For me, a home has a strong personality and it really inspires something when stepping in it, in the moment you’re surrounded by all the personal stuff, decorations and souvenirs the owner has all over the place. And this beautiful attic apartment in Bilbao, Spain, was a success in building a cozy and welcoming environment. The designer that took care of the transformation was Mikel Larrinaga and although the walls are full of frames picturing different things and on top of the furniture there is personal stuff, I don’t feel like the space is crowded.
Downstairs there’s the living room and the kitchen, but all the attention is being caught by the beautiful terrace outside, filled in with plants and being thought to give a nice aesthetic look. For the walls, white has been chosen, as there were needed tricks to make it appear bigger. The furniture is a perfect mix of old and elegant, contrasting a little bit with the industrial style we can scent, especially when we take a look at the ceiling structure. Upstairs, the bedroom was created in a relatively small space, yet enough to add a corner as an improvised office.
The bathroom has small sizes, but once again, this was compensated with an attention for details. Beige pattern wallpaper and vintage table holding the sink, along with other several decorative elements compensates with any need of more room.
